Be an Idiot and not stupid.......

Recently, i watched this movie 3 idiots. It was truly one of the best Bollywood movie of this decade, with the hidden funda that chase for excellence and success will follow you, behind that hilarious script. Aamir Khan, as keeping with his tradition during Christmas time, gave a massive hit.
The film clearly reflected on the Indian Education System, showing its pitfalls all the way. I mean students nowadays believe in roting(ratna as we call it in Hindi) things out, rather than learning and implementing those things. Innovativeness is decreasing day by day. We see more engineers coming out from our country rather than becoming scientists aur stuffs like that. The students are more often pressurized to take things, which they don't like. Speaking our college, I find few students quite interesting out there. Actually, we will be having placements during this time, and the situation is that, everyone has started preparing for it. And, i mean, what they haven't learnt in the past 3 years, they want to learn it within this span of 20 days, and that too because for getting the job, and not really for learning.
Hope after watching this movie, the students, teachers, and also the parents give this a good thought, and help in improving the system.

Sigh of relief........

After a terrible week of our exams, I can breathe a sigh of relief now. Actually it was good that the theory exams were over within this short period, but the seminars and the labs are still left but that's after 10 days.

Having seen the trailer of Avatar a month ago, I was quite excited to catch this movie in 3D, and now I'll be going to watch it on Wednesday, along with my friends. It will be quite a thrilling experience to watch this movie in 3D, and to have a look at this newly created world Pandora.

It's been a good week for me, as I also won a TopCoder-NASA T-shirt. The t-shirt will be shipped in January. Eagerly waiting for that to arrive, so that I could flaunt it in front my friends[:P].

After this hohullah of our technical and cultural fest, everything comes to a standstill. And for us, the 4th years, it was the last fest of our undergraduate life, so it was bit a special one.

Our exams are within a month, and many among us are GATE and CAT aspirants too, so all will now cover themselves with their books.

So no more masti for next 3-4 mnths. So, everyone cross ur fingers, and wait for the time to pass by. Good Luck to everyone......

Back again......

It's been long since I've posted in my blog. Actually I was not able to access my net for quite a time, coz I went to Guwahati to meet my dad, and spend Durga puja over there. I was there for ten days, but i could hardly rest a day. It was more of a pandal hopping and visting places this time. The puja there is not as good as in Kolkata, but few were really good. I also happened to visit few well known beautiful temples over there - Balaji Mandir & Basistha Mandir, but not happened to visit Kamakhya Mandir this time.

This was a welcome break for me after a long time, and it surely refreshed my mind. I'm happy to be back in Kolkata again, but surely I missed the puja over here.

Subho bijoya to all my friends.....[:)]

Customization........

I'm using Ubuntu 9.04 for quite sometime. Being a newbie i try my hands in different areas in order to learn, which often lets me in trouble, and makes my system unstable. Then i had to install my OS again, and all the updates and necssary softwares required by me. This is really a troublesome job.

So, I thought wouldn't it be nice, if during my installation of OS, all the updates and softwares required by me are installed too. So, i googled it regarding this and queried my friends. I found out that we can customize an Ubuntu Live CD, and can change it's look and feel, add your own packages and updates. If you wish to learn regarding these, you can go through thes following links.

Barclays Premier League.....

So, today the BPL kickstarted after such a long time of waiting, and after a long time I can see my team Chelsea playing, not mentioning that win over ManU, the last weekend in Community Shield.
That was quite a headstart for my team by winning the first title of the season, with it's new manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Today Chelsea played against Hull City, which was promoted last season and caused a few hiccups for the big 4 last year. They were willing to take a point today too, but Drog has some other options for them. After a frustrating start today, Drogba managed to score twice brilliantly. Although my team played well, but they were not quite good in front of the goal. They created many chances but failed to convert them.

Nonetheless, they started their campaign with a winning note and secured their first 3 points. Hope to see them finish their campaign with the championship. Go Blues go!!!!

It's Infyyyyyy time....

Last night our class representative send me a mail regarding the Infosys Campus Connect program. Due to some reasons I couldn't attend last few tests, and due to our teacher's negligence, me and some of my friends, who regularly attended those classes starting from 8.30 in the morning, couldn't appear for the re-tests too.

So, the good news is that Infosys is gonna conduct a re-examination on all the subjects covered during the program. So, students like us can get back their certificates by appearing on those missed-out exams. Me and my friends are happy now, that all our hard work didn't go futile. So, good luck guys for the exam, meet you there.
